Reception and KS1 have daily timetabled sessions of phonics; following and teaching the Systematic Synthetic Phonics Programme through the Little Wandle scheme.

The teachers use a range of resources such Pearson Bug Club Reading Books and a range of interactive games to enhance teaching and learning.
At the end of Year 1, pupils are tested by completing the official Phonics Screening Test. The children are asked to read a selection of real and made up words and the results of these tests are reported to parents.

The children were encouraged to 'have a go at what they know'. This was linked to our letter sound 'z'. We zipped up our coats, wrote a sentence and got a sticker. Please click the link below to see how they did.
