Reception

Welcome to EYFS at

St. Mary's Catholic Primary School Euxton

Mrs Chester is the Reception Class Teacher and working with her are Teaching Assistants Mrs Thomas and Mrs Taylor.

At Euxton St Mary's school we build on what our children already know and can do. Each individual child comes into school at different starting points and we aim to provide a stimulating environment to help all children develop and grow into lifelong learners. We build our curriculum around the children's interests and provide opportunities for learning indoors and outdoors.

Teaching in the Early Years Foundation Stage is based on securing progress towards Early Learning Goals, which indicate what is expected of most children by the end of the foundation stage. These goals are contained within the following areas of learning and development:-

Three Prime Areas

  • Personal Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Four Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

In addition, there is a focus on the Characteristics of Effective Learning which are:

  • Playing and Exploring
  • Active Learning
  • Creating and thinking Critically

We are so excited for you to be at our school.  We have lots of exciting things happening in our foundation stage and when you join us, you too will experience the ever changing classroom, the visits, the visitors and so much more! ...

Here are a few details about our class:

  •  All children have their own key workers who they work with on a daily basis.
  •  In addition to these set groups, the children will rotate into the three areas of classroom, outdoor area and the lodge.
  •  Children read twice a week with the teacher and a teaching assistant. Please send in your child's reading folder into school everyday.
  • Children will be taught daily phonics within the class and continuous provision.
